Opportunity for Software Engineer

Software Engineer to join our team in Rothley, Leicestershire, UK

The company currently requires a Software Engineer with a strong scientific/engineering background to join the team in Rothley.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a small and friendly family-owned company who supply innovative, problem-solving products to prestigious universities and hospitals around the world.

You will report to the General Manager and will work in a team of two responsible for the software systems used in the business and the quality of new and existing software products.

Main Activities include:

  • New software development, including code for systems integration, real-time control, video processing, biomechanical modelling, 3D graphics, and numerical optimisation
  • Bug identification & Repair • Software Testing & Documentation
  • Running Prototyping/Testing/Build/Release Cycle for applications using VC++

The main programming language required is C++. Familiarity in Python and Java would be an added advantage, but the main requirement is a strong mathematical/engineering orientation and a desire to create solutions for the next generation of biomechanics researchers. Typical projects in the last year have included developing software for use on the International Space Station and synchronously integrating data from eye-trackers and other third-party equipment into our motion capture systems. As a Software Engineer you will need to be flexible and work with other hardware and software engineers, as well as sales staff, as project needs dictate. On occasion you will need to liaise directly with customers to resolve problems, gain feedback, or define requirements for new projects. You will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills plus great organisation and self-discipline.
